A little slice of life story about 3 sisters coming back together to support each other in times of needs. It felt like watching a movie where the plot itself doesn't matter and is all about how the characters go through life. Outside of the great cast of characters, you also get the exploration on what it means to be a half japanese person leaving in japan, and their treatment of people who stand out in such a homogenous society.

The world building and the characters were great, the plot a bit cliche but it served its purposed. Unfortunately is the beginning of a long wait for the second book.

Strong start, intriguing premise, interesting take on immortality

Epilogue of the book ruins any emotional gravitas of the ending

Another super old Japanese crime fiction, it has a lot of the staple/cliches of Japanese crime fiction, but was this the pioneer of them all?

As a story it was quite enjoyable and the ending was pretty fun to read, the prose felt a bit sterile and to the point to me.

One issue I had was that given that this is a period piece, some parts was a bit confusing as I lacked some of the knowledge of like old japanese building structures and building parts to really paint the full picture of what was being described.

The premise was a fun and unexpected one, but the way it progress felt a bit lacking, it felt like there was more that could be done with that premise.

It was pretty fun read, saw it at a bookstore, bought it and finished it on the ride home from the bookstore. You can definitely feel how he influenced the current landscape of Japanese Detective Novels, If I didn't know that Rampo was from the 1920s, I would have mistakenly believed he was influenced by current authors like Keigo Higashino. The plot points can be a bit cliche by current standards but I still enjoyed the book and would recommend it given how short it was.

Objectively a fascinating book with a lot of interesting ideas that I can see would have been really cool to read about back then. Subjectively the book lost me a lot of times and it could benefit from a reread but I wasn't captivated enought to put in that effort.

yet another thrilling chapter in the detective galileo series.

Very fun book, the suspense and mystery was very engaging and found it very enjoyable. It gave very M Night Shyamalan vibes. It was interesting how I kept swinging back and forth into thinking whether this will be a story grounded in reality or some mystical magical thing.

An erratic stream of consciousness rampaging my head as I try to understand what the hell is going on.

At the beginning, it felt like another novel about nothing but as the pages turned I found myself captivated by the rollercoaster of emotions that it evoked in me.

A fun read. Enjoyed it while it lasted, but will leave my memory sooner than later.

It has interesting ideas but the execution was not for me

A fun whimsical story about childhood and innocence.

The main character was a bit too much for me but maybe that's more of a reflection of me than of the book itself.

Red Rising in Ancient Rome with a Magical Ponzi Scheme. Fun read

Very interesting, never read something about this topic and very enlightening.

Feels more like a blueprint of a world.

The characters were interesting and the story they tell were fun to read through. But the overall plot line felt a bit shaky and the pacing didn't help with that.
