First-Time Caller

Wrote a review for

It’s an ok retelling of Sleepless in Seattle. This version is longer then it should be as it was over descriptive about backgrounds, the conversations are repetitive, characters intentionally misunderstand, and the banter was not that good.

This book is supposed to be all about the banter, but I felt the film did it better. The conversations didn’t feel witty or all that interesting. The author has a lot of inner monologs for the two main characters about how they are just into each other. There are even time skips that we will out on building the chemistry and connection.

There are some good parts to the book but what I walk away with most from this book is how immature the main characters are. They are in their 30’s but act like 20-year-olds. The male main character doesn’t talk to his mom and runs from any emotional investment since his mom has cancer. Reading about the dating was the hardest part as they are clearly into each other but refuse to accept it.

The good parts are overshadowed by the bad.
