I love cozy mysteries and historical fiction. This is a perfect blend of the two. Absolutely adore Violet and really enjoyed the story as well. This one is perfect for those who enjoy a strong female lead and entertaining story.
I sincerely appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Historical Fiction is one of my favorite genres to read. It's such a great mix of history and fiction.
I think the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby is probably one of the most notorious, and debated crimes. The Lindbergh Nanny takes this on well and is such a well-written and fascinating read.
I sincerely appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
It's been a while since I enjoyed a book so completely. Once I got started reading this I had a hard time putting it down. There is so much to love within these pages:
Mythology ✔️
Magic ✔️
Good vs. Evil ✔️
Enemies to Friends ✔️
Strong Female Characters ✔️
Amazing Writing ✔️
Thea is such a great character, and is so relatable. Paired with Teal, Tiana, the Malachites and yes, even Zero, it makes for an adventure worth getting lost in.
I am desperately hoping there is a follow up to Why We Play With Fire. With that ending..there are so many possibilities and I am here for them all. This is definitely one for fans of YA Fantasy, Mythology, and Magic. Go. Grab. This.
I sincerely appreciate the author for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Hunted by Proxy is the 2nd installment in this series and just as fast-paced and thrilling as the first.
If you like legal thrillers and courtroom drama this is for you. The storyline for this one was hard to read (child hurt) but the author did a great job in handling that part of it. I teared up a few times too which is rare in a thriller.
Love Quinton too and man oh man does chaos seem to just surround him. I can't wait for the next instalment.
Henry Winkler is one my all-time favorite actors. I used to watch re-runs of Happy Days (where I was first introduced to Henry) and it made my hard days easier. There is something to be said for television when you are a latch-key kid, who is very quiet and nerdy and spends almost 80% of their time alone.
That being said, there is so much more to our favorite actors and celebrities than we will ever know. Being Henry is easy to relate to. I love Henry Winkler even more after reading parts of his life journey.
There is a part towards the end when an autistic girl has her first word...Fonz. Boy did that make me cry. Highly recommend this one.
I sincerely appreciate Celadon Books for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Ingrid has a secret, one she hopes no one will figure out. She and her daughter, Susan, have found themselves in a precarious situation which has brought them to Strathbairn.
Strathbairn is a cold, desolate estate, but it makes the perfect hiding place. What Ingrid soon comes to realize is Strathbairn, and its inhabitants, have secrets of their own...ones that make her wonder how perfect a hiding place this really is.
I enjoy reading gothic mysteries and suspense and What Happened at the Abbey definitely fits the mood. It's dark, atmospheric and at times melancholy.
This author has a way with words and after reading for a bit, I felt like I was transplanted into that time and place. Definitely made for a bleak morning some days
Oh my...where to start LOL
Elliah and her mother are drifters. Not by choice, they roam from place-to-place, when Elliah's “condition” becomes known. Although an Elf, her situation brings her no solidarity with her kind...instead disdain and coldness meet her gaze.
One day, she meets an Elf who sees her for who she is and yet ... he isn't disgusted. He embraces her difference and befriends her. He and his father are on a quest and somehow Elliah and her mother end up joining them.
There is a secret to who Elliah truly is, and learning some of her past along the way to the Mother of Trees fuels many questions inside her. Will this quest to the Mother finally bring some clarity? Or will this journey bring something darker...or worse despair.
Oh man...did this one being back the nostalgia for The Guardian League. If you haven't read that series yet...do it. LOL I really enjoyed learning about Elliah. It's not easy to persevere when so much, and so many are against you. Just because of what you lack (in their eyes at least).
At times, Elliah did irritate me but such is the attitude of youth. Eventually, I grew to love her character and the growth she shows in such a short story. This one definitely has a YA feel and, for me, it works.
I will say, the beginning was a little hard for me to get into. The pacing felt a tad slow and off, to me at least, BUT it picks up and when it goes .. zoom baby. I cannot wait for the 2nd book. That ending has me HOOKED.
This is definitely one for fans of this author's earlier series AND for those who love a solid fantasy that gives off those LOTR feels.
I sincerely appreciate the author for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Absolutely adored this one. Nick and Tesla are lot of fun, although a tad chaotic too LOL.
This is perfect for middle school readers. The story will keep their attention and the science projects will entertain their creative side. I really love that this has instructions on how to build/make the ideas the twins have. Definitely one I am sharing with my grandbabies.
I sincerely appreciate Quirk Books for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
I haven't read a good dystopian Sci-Fi in a while. I really enjoyed this one. It's a lot to wrap my head around but that is part of the fun.
I couldn't imagine being in this type of situation. I think the author does a great job with the story and characters. Parts of this gave me a Walking Dead vibe and I loved that. This would make a fantastic movie.
Definitely a good one for Sci-Fi fans. I sincerely appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Stories about loss and grief are hard to read, but The Words We Lost is much more than that. It's also about redemption and freedom from the guilt we can put on ourselves when a loved one passes.
This book had my emotions all over the place, but in a good way. I love Joel, Ingrid and CeCe. They are such great characters and their story touched my heart. I also LOVE that this has books and publishing within the story. I'm always a sucker for those types of reads.
I didn't realize this was a series until after I finished, and now I need to go grab the next book(s). Definitely worth the read. I sincerely appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Hmmm...well that was disappointing. I was expecting a lot more since this is marketed as a thriller, but that was....not.
For me, this was like binge eating Taco Bell at 4am because you've been out all night and are starving...only to regret it hours later. Bye, Baby starts off well but then it just dragged on and on and finished with a lackluster and unsatisfying ending.
There wasn't a character, outside of Alex and Jane, that I liked. Even Billie had me cringing. This was definitely not the book for me.
I do appreciate St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Oh man! Give me more of Hadley Cove please!! This was everything my romantic heart needed and then some.

Animals playing a big part of the story. Absolutely loved Riley
This one has mixed reviews, but as a Sci-Fi fan, I really enjoyed it. The idea of a doppelganger, just popping into existence, is a favorite trope for me. Last to Leave the Room does this well, I think, and it made for a good story.
There is a lot of contemplation, especially towards the end, but that actually made this more interesting for me. Sometimes it works, and sometimes not, but this time it fit well.
If you're a fan of Sci-Fi, with a touch of horror, this is one to grab and read. I sincerely appreciate St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
I started and finished this one today while diamond painting. I LOVE A Christmas Carol. It's one of my all-time favorite Christmas stories. I love stories that are retellings of it and was happy to find A Christmas Caroline.
The narrator is amazing and made the story easy to listen to. The story itself is fun and entertaining. I adored it. Definitely a perfect one for Christmas time.
