I try hard not to DNF books, but this one was hard to get through. The beginning was promising, but the rest of the book I could read just made me uncomfortable and upset while also not giving me any reason to care about any of the characters...
It was bad enough that I actually wrote out a review so that's a pretty good indicator.
While I really enjoyed the ending to this book, the build up was infuriating. The first 75% of the book felt like repetition of how much this couple hates each other and while that is important to the story I feel like half of it could have been cut out. Much of this book felt like the author assumed the reader is kind of dumb because they repeat key information in similar ways instead of a simple call back. The end twist ended up being worth it but it took me way longer to get there than I'm used to just because it was such a drag.
This book was a little tough to get into but the last 100 or so pages made it completely worth it. A truly beautiful story about dealing with trauma.
