An excellent historical Chic-Lit story.
With lots of action, mystery and love.
An 18-years-old damsel that fall's in love with a man much, much older man in dire need of founds due to a past injustice - a duke that was robbed of his title by an unscrupulous Italian women... but in the end justice and love reach is aim.
Two souls that forget to communicate and let life progress slowly till they thought there was little left... But love has found a way (and good friends that give support throughout the difficult time)... In the end they found the best way... communication... after that love was there and they reach the opportunity to reconnect and let love blossom...
A well conceived plot, with strong characters and that will find love in the end.
A damsel in distress (Miss Charlotte Browne) needing to find her way in life, namely to find employment... a casual encounter with a selfish childhood girlfriend (Miss Amanda Easterly) that will manipulate things to have her under the same roof... a rich and good nature alpha male (Graham Easterly), in grief after his wife died in childbirth... a dandy in need of founds that will try to marry the heiress or anyone with a dowry... some good people/friends that will always help even when money is an issue.
And through all... two souls that will at last find love
I just love this series and the evolution of the story and family... a well conceived sequence of stories... characters with strong feelings and convictions not afraid to fight for what they believe is the right thing... with cunning intelligence to destroy the evil ones... and in their “journeys” through life to find their everlasting love.
A good sequence of books with plots well constructed and a group of characters with paranormal/magic strength but also vulnerable, that daily struggle to overcome adversity... and find eternal love and the strong force in the universe: friendship... a group that enlarge during each mission/story...
The first book has a difficult start but after some time its plot enrich and little by little the story conquest the attention of the reader... the follow books are much more rich and easy to be liked/read.

An unlikely ally - Hugh Tucker (a friend of her mother's and the leader of “the Center” - a secret organization of bad, bad people that want to control/destroy Ashland) - will help her by killing some of the giants ...

But ... she ends up being kidnapped by her enemy who wants revenge (because Gina had kill Alanna's mother when she was only 15 years old) ... and know she wants the true diary ... that Gina's doesn't have... and then, begins the race against time to survive ... Gina is resilient, despite being in danger of death (she was drugged and beaten), she will use the little elemental ice magic she has left, with intelligence, and ends up winning - drowning the giants and Alanna ... at the end when she can barely swim to the shore, she's once more helped by Hugh Tucker.
Gina believes nothing good can came from it ... And the mystery thickens when a few days later Stuart Mosley, with a sad countenance, gives her a present ... a photograph of someone who, at first glance, she thought was her father, ... In fact, it's the mysterious Mason ... an enemy ... and Ginny must investigate this mystery until the end ...

I only can say that I once more was surprised with the lengths and deeps of Jennifer Estep in creating credible imaginary worlds, plots of mystery and revenge, strong characters with all the emotions that we all experience one way or another.
Crown of Shards is undoubtedly an excellent series that I recommend for all readers that love the paranormal/supernatural/magic/warriors/action/adventure/love romance - juvenile/YA

6 alpha-gorgeous brothers an alpha-wonderful mother (and mother-in-love) and 6 spectacular strong but fragile and in distress young ladies that through a rough time of their life will cross path with those out-stand males that will help to overcome all the obstacles and meanwhile find their everlasting love.
This alpha males are overprotective of their mate and family members and sometimes lost contact with what is reasonable but our ladies have a good right fist... and will prove they are capable to defend them selves...
6 stories with lots of action, suspense, thrill, love... strong emotions that will capture the reader attention since the begin till the very end...
A 5 stars contemporary ChicLit anthology.
I love to read Hanna Hamilton regency historical romances and when I was able to access this new book as a author giveaway I was thrilled.
So I read it right-away and, once more, I was surprised with an excellent plot, strong characters with their insecurities, a story with alpha males and strong women, that evolve beautifully like the writing quality of the author.
