See allHonestly, this is by no means a bad book, but it is a bit underwhelming. I think that is mostly due to how highly praised it is by the community. I recognize that it was groundbreaking for itstime, but I don't think it holds up as well in the current age of horror/psychological novels. It's honestly just not that thrilling, and the characters aren't very interesting either. I think the concept is cool, and it does have its moments, but overall it falls flat.
If you are someone who looks for the classic dystopian experience, world building, a gripping mystery, and a big overarching plot, this is not the book for you. However, that is not to say this book doesn't have something to say. I think it kind of utilizes the setting of a dystopian world to touch on different things, and in the end becomes very philosophical in the themes it explores. I did not like this book personally, but nevertheless it is worth a read.
