review; a relatively short read. a common trope is that of a fake vs the real thing, and i keep wondering how people before LLMs came along read it. its supposed to alienate you from the main character who hunts these very humanlike androids - but i found myself identifying with him through the lens of hating on LLM, withholding trust from what you see until youve determined authenticity, at which point youd be so removed from it that it wouldnt matter anyhow at which point the main character reaches apotheosis, but not, but kind of fake but not but definitely dissociated out of his mind

some people say they dislike the prose and i dont agree i found it refreshing if anything overly prosaic fantasy can get exhausting after some time

if anything you can argue some ideas are not totally brought to fruition - but imo it fits well in the rest of the book and the overall tone. i liked it 10/10 for me
