I really didn't like this book I feel like it was a waste of my time. The characters really got on my nerves I didn't feel connected to any of them or thier stories. Amelie (the main character) was such an annoying narrator to follow. She kept on saying things in the most cryptic ways (which is something that also gets on my nerves please just tell me what happened I don't want no riddle) and she told the longest story ever to the detective but somehow I swear nothing really happened. Speaking of the detective I didn't really see the point of switching back in forth between inside the cave to present time in the pov of the detective. I just feel like it didn't do anything for the story it's not like the detective was really figuring out stuff in the present. Like she kinda was but she really wasn't. She just kept on getting (again) this cryptic evidence that wasn't really helping her figure out anything.Or she would find the most common sense thing ever and then act like it was some mystery but it really wasn't it was just common sense. Basically what I'm saying is she wasn't Nancy Drew she wasn't even scooby-doo and I kinda feel like her character was useless. I also feel like the book was too long I think it could've been under 300 pages because like I said although Amelie is telling this long dragged out story not a lot happened. Also this book wasn't very scary in my opinion they spent most of the time fighting themselves and each other then anything actually in the cave. And sure I'm pretty sure that's the point because this book is very much about thier fears and a lot of internal emotions in general but even when they were fighting themselves and each other it still wasn't scary or interesting I honestly just wanted it to end. I think that's all I have to say for now. Also please keep in mind I'm not saying that this book is bad I'm just saying I didn't like it.
