We Were Liars

If you had an interest in this book based on the blurb I seriously advise you start reading, you get exactly what you desire from this novel and more.
I loved the focus on the relationships, the individuality of all our characters, and the main conflict that leads to the ending tragedy.
I am certainly due a reread on this, it is a book that makes an impact on you and the story holds significance; one that leaves a lasting impression on you, I can wholeheartedly say that this book achieves its intent.
You may predict the ending, you may not, don't be too quick to close the door on it.

Update: A notable aspect that knocks a star for me is the racism and prejudice that, although being addressed, is not treated as thoroughly as it should've been. 3 ⭐️

orange: The Complete Collection 2

I absolutely loved this series. I was extremely interested to see if it would end in a stereotypical magical optimistic kind of world, or if it would lend itself more to the idea of the group finding acceptance in the circumstances that occurred and having to come to terms with their grief, realising that some things cannot be changed. I would've been satisfied with either ending, but I'm not going to complain about the one we got.

My only bone to pick was with how some of the really moving conversations were worded, but I think it's a case of poor translation.

Either way, I would easily recommend this as a quick read! It was a beautiful story.

The Last Gifts of the Universe

I think that this book could honestly be something so incredible. The messages in the story are beautiful; but the plot, the characters, and the world just have not been fleshed out enough, and with only 180 pages to work with there is absolutely no question that that is why. The writing itself is beautiful, fast paced (although the book does slow at the halfway point for a bit), and it is such a lovely message of connection and grief expanding over universes and different planes of existence.
