Very slow read. No action or virtually none and the book dragged on and on and on...

i bailed out as i lost interest

A good read but nowhere near his best. I happened to just come back from Rapallo and the book did not get me back...

A wide ranging tale, covering various geographies and time periods.
The book provided insight into the Portuguese mindset while weaving through a murder case. Excellent character development, my one criticism is it is too long.

I enjoyed the read until the ending, It resolved nothing and left many unanswered questions.

I give it 4 stars for its setting and plot idea

I'm a Nesbo fan and this was dark as usual. I think the best thing about the book was the pacing. It was an exceptionally quick read with a couple of unexpected twists.

Great book, loved the twists and if possible better sequel than the original!

Simply a masterpiece. Way ahead of its time.

Nesbo is clearly a suspenseful writer and always has a twist or two!

No shortage of twists and turns in this story! A strong voiced, unpredictable protagonist tells her life story and all its ups and downs.

It was excellent character development and I needed to find out what would happen. my only complaint was that I didn't get the sense of place that I thought I would as it traded on the decline of the manufacturing belt.

After enjoying A Gentleman in Moscow, I grabbed this one which was his first book. His style of writing is completely engaging. The way he sketches characters is very effective. I wish he'd write more....

Better than i expected. a quick read but way too wordy, no need, in my opinion to describe flat, passing characters.

A brilliant point of view and plot (I wish I'd of thought of it!). This is McEwan at his best, he may not be everyone's cup of tea but I think he is both original and entertaining. Some may not fully appreciate his sarcastic commentary on our culture but it resonates with this reader.

Hesitated with only a 3 star rating for Price's new novel but it was just too slowly paced. It also seems like a bunch of individual stories. I also felt, though at times he nailed it, that he over dis-functionalized (if that's a word) a NYC detective's existence.

Re-read this classic examination of death and dying. A reflective read sure to cause some to reassess.

Steinback at his best. A masterpiece about life in the Salinas Valley

View

A masterpiece that deals with a disturbing subject. Nabokov masterfully paints a realistic portrait of a truly deranged person and their twisted thoughts and rationalization.

View

Excellent plot and execution by a master! The way she builds the tension is simply awe inspiring.
This was a re-read for me and I'm glad i re-visited it. A must read

Nice fast paced read thru a good plot. Barton did not add anything unnecessary to moving the story along which I appreciated. The alternating and at times unreliable POV was handled nicely.
