This book has you guessing right up to the last page!! I could not put it down and have recommended it to anyone who would listen!
the “romance” kept rubbing me the wrong way and I didn't care enough about anything else in the story to continue
This is definitely not the book I thought I was signing up for
The premise of this book is so fantastical and just what every young girl needs: female pirates that are actually successful at their trade. I'm mad that I put it off for so long as I was really excited to read it when I first picked it up. In that time I forgot completely what the plot was and what about it had intrigued me in the first place. Luckily, it didn't take long for it to remind me that Aleja is not one to sit and wait for her destiny to happen to her, instead she proved that women can and in fact are pirates. She also proved that despite the vicious words of the kids in her town, she was more than welcome among their crew. It's a cute story, but maybe skip the audio.
The three main things that you can take away from this book are
Quick read but the ending is such a tease
It pays to be tenacious and to believe in yourself and
Pirates! and Quests! but make it femme
Max has the perfect opportunity to fool his mother while trying to reignite his high school flame, all he has to do is reboot a lost friendship. The problem? He's an idiot who can't see more than two feet in front of him. But, boy is it enjoyable watching him wake up to the truth.
Katie is a true ride or die, stepping aside and stepping in, wherever and whenever needed. Even if it means heartbreak.
The ending certainly makes up for their tiptoeing around each other.
Honestly, one of my favourite tropes and it's been done just how I like it chef's kiss.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Heartbreaking and yet, I will read again in a heartbeat! Hazel Grace made me hurt for her, hope with her, and fight beside her. John Green wove a story that was captivating on all fronts.
I can definitely understand Lizzy's motivation to align herself with Chris. He's the best safety net you can find at the end of the world. However, my favorite part of this book was not their relationship, or their passion (which was off the charts), but the Zombie Lord himself. Ivan was funny and loveable, even when he was saying things that really should've been kept inside his head. His odd little quirks made me feel sorry for him, and when he eventually could fight the disease no more I was heartbroken.
This book was a quick read and provided exactly what it promises: zombie action, military madness, lots of hot sex and a trio that finds their way into your heart. I would recommend to any fans of TWD.
The glimpses of Megan and Nick were just what the Doctor ordered (and I wish he'd prescribed more).
Cleo and Charlie might be two of the most indecisive and stubborn characters you'll ever encounter! It took them to over 95% of the book to finally get their ish together. But, it was worth it, especially when they had the kids with them as well.
Is it weird that I ship their parents? Figured. Lol.
