It was fine until it lost its way near the 70% mark. In the space of a few hours, Adam went from being so unsure of his sexuality, he tried hooking up with a woman he didn't know, to deciding he wanted to enter a fully committed relationship with Myles, become a family, and was certain enough of it to announce it to the children. Then less than a day later, he suddenly decided to run for mayor, with no previous mention of any thought of being involved in politics prior to this. Major life changing decisions like that are not made at the drop of a hat (at least not by responsible people). It was just too unrealistic and rushed.
