See allI started listening to the audiobook shortly after finishing watching the show. The book is different enough from the show (especially in the back half) that it kept me engaged, but similar enough that there weren’t any real surprises. Overall I liked the book and I think it had some interesting social commentary and thoughts about what sleeving technology would be like that didn’t make it to the show. At the same time I think the book is long winded in parts for no good reason.
This is one of those types of books where the content will make you mad. Not because it is false or poorly written, but because it reveals a pattern of people making decisions while being oblivious to the consequences. Or in the worst cases knowing the negative consequences and making the decision anyway. I think it is well worth the read even if (like me) you start getting more and more frustrated with the story the closer it gets to the present day.
