A great dive into history via heroic deeds of manly men. From the Romans to more modern day battles and adventures, this book is informative and not overly boggy. I'm a girl and very much enjoyed it...not just a book for boys!
I really enjoyed this book - some didn't of course, and I haven't read John Lydon's first autobiography, but I would recommend this. I found it impossible not to read it in his voice (which often helped), it is an honest, detailed and thorough account of his life from childhood up to PIL and beyond.
Having been a big fan of ‘PopCo' and ‘The End of Mr. Y', I was expecting to love this book, but sadly it wasn't for me. I liked the premise and it is skillfully written (as Scarlett Thomas is a brilliant author), but I found the book a struggle to plough through. It has some pretty heavy subject matter and a range of complex characters, but none that I really liked or connected with. I may give it another go at some point.
Overall I enjoyed this book, I got to know and like the main characters and it was an easy read. The ending seemed a bit rushed, but it kept me entertained.
