Story was good with lots of action, but I just didn't connect to any of the characters. With that it didn't make me want to read the second book.

I enjoyed this book more than his other series. Still had some issue where at points the main character seem to become more powerful than he should be. It's like the author used that to escape some writers block/didn't know how to get him out of the sticky situation. Other times he feels completely weak. Besides this issue, it was a solid read. There were some good lines in it that had me laughing to a point that my spouse looked at me funny.
