This book explicitly discusses the personal story of J.D. Vance's life, but from a slightly more analytical angle—there's a significant and repeated focus on the behaviors, approaches, and circumstances that lead to and, more so, maintain poverty in white America.

Although mostly an anecdotal account (some research is mentioned), this remains a worthwhile and enjoyable read for anyone who might be interested in understanding soci0-political issues trending in the US or just some thought-provoking insights and experiences that might distinguish lower, and mid-to-upper classes in the western world today

Intro by Orwell was a 5/5, read only that

One of Abercrombie's great strengths as a writer is his ability to portray the tragedy that results from violence.

I always found this aspect of his writing to be particularly impactful, but recently a father, now I find this aspect is so much more visceral to me.
The individual small stories that portray loss & pain, enmity, disappointment, and their consequences - remained with me throughout the day as I read “A Little Hatred”

This book at the very least, and probably some more of Abercrombie's, exemplifies grimdark fantasy as a genre highly capable of conveying the tragedy of existence & its all to frequent end.

I was hoping for an insightful and creative examination of male sexuality,
Instead what i read was feminist rhetoric demonizing man and their very basic urges.

The author bases many of his thoughts on theoreticians who see male sexuality as basically oppressive and harmful, as opposed to a standard of sexual health that is identified with female sexuality.

It is true that this book aims to focus on an abnormality of male sexuality, yet it projects basic motivations and expressions of the abnormal unto what may be considered as normal.

The author also sees these issues through a particulary Japanese paradigm, aspects of do not translate to a Western audience.

The book obviously lacks on an empirical ground for its claims, as it is mostly based on the author's individual thoughts and experiences.

1. .כשצריך להכריע אם זה פולישוק או בית הקלפים, זה פולישוק -
הספר מתאר את הדינמיקה הממשלתית ככזו המתנהלת בעיקר על בסיס מלחמות אגו, קרבות על קרדיט, עימותים בין משרדיים על אחריות, תקציבים ויוקרה וטינות אישיות שיכולות להישמר שנים עד שמוצאות הזדמנות לבוא אל הפועל.
החוויה הממשלתית במובן זה היא אכן קומית, קוראים אידאליסטים על יתר המידה עלולים למצוא אותה כטראגית (אם נשאר במדינת ישראל אדם אידאליסטי בנוגע לעבודת הממשלה).

2.כשזה כן בית הקלפים, זה יותר בית השש-בש -
כשהספר אינו דן בפוליטיקה הפנימית בישראל, הוא חושף בפני הקורא איך ההתנהלות הבין-אישית ברמה הדיפלומטית יכולה להביא לתוצאות בעיצוב יחסי החוץ של ישראל. כאן הסיטואציות המתוארות מכילות יחסי תן-וקח שמרגישים פחות כאוטיים, אבל עדיין מתובלים באסרטיביות וחוצפה ישראלית, שעל בסיס תיאורו של שטייניץ, עוזרים לקדם את האינטרסים הישראלים בזירה הבינלאומית.

3.הדיאליקטיקה של להיות יובל שטייניץ -
שטייניץ מציג את עצמו בתחילת הקריירה הפוליטית שלו כעוף מוזר במערכת הפוליטית הישראלית, דוקטור לפילוספיה השם דגש על ספקנות והיסק לוגי אל מול בלילה של אמוציות וקידום עצמי חסר בושה.
אך לאחר הקריאה ניתן לראות שגם שטייניץ ניחן בכמה תכונות שיכלו אולי להסביר את נסיקתו היחסית בפוליטיקה הישראלית - מעל כולן עומד המנהג שלו לקחת הרבה קרדיט לעצמו בצורה שאינה משתמעת לשני פנים, אך גם נטייה מסויימת לאסרטיביות אמוציונלית שעזרה לו במספר סיטואציות פוליטיות המתוארות בספר.
בנוסף, יכולה להשתמע מהספר גם מידה של לויאליות ל”פטרון” הפוליטי שלו, בנימין נתניהו.
ניתן רק לשער האם תכונות אלו הן תולדה של הקריירה הפוליטית שלו, או שמא קדמו לה.
