I know the whole point is to make fun of what an unimportant drama it all was but I got distracted by the symbolism of “man thinks he has a right to a woman's body and when she rightfully calls him out on it, he and his friend make fun of her for having a meltdown over a little good fun.”
So once the thought sat in my head, it kind of robbed me of the hilarity of the situation. I know it's just the lock of hair but still...
Actually I abandoned the book.Kinda boring...
the book was creepy...I decided it was wayyyyyyy out of my league...
I went half way threw this but the book is so long and boring I gave up!
Even though everyone said it was a very sexual book,it wasn't really(thank God!)
And it was very well written.I can say Fire is one of those lovable characters and also the rest of the characters have these gray-personalities which makes them real.
I was a little spooked by the last part and it did end depressingly but I loved it alright.
I was going to give this book a chance despite the fact that I had vowed to NEVER again touch a book by Sarah J Maas. I got the first book and thought:okay maybe she won't go for the the Rhysand thing after all but apparently she did so nope! Not touching this book with a stick!
okay, i don't understand why but for some reason goodreads had deleted this book from my read list and I'm so pissed now.
This was so boring and soulless. There is nothing to keep you going. There is no urgency in trying to get us to like these characters or care about them. I would love to read something from Thailand but this was just so boring.
3/5 stars. Mainly because I can wait to see if the next two books get better!
The world building was very well done and interesting. The main character is very compelling. She could easily tip into annoying or masculinized to seem strong but she didn't. She was ambiguous, sympathizable and intriguing.
The romance is very thin in the story which works well as the story is more focused on the complex feelings the character has for her family and that type of platonic love.
All in all a very good read. A bit predictable but that's almost fixed by one tiny very unexpected twist.
Can't wait for the sequel and what will happen next
WOAH! That was...that was not what I expected... This book was heavy! way heavier than the first one and way better!
I had one minor problem which was the “previously on...” part. There were way too many parts that were the summary of book one and at one point there is actually a summary of something we read earlier in the book and that was just too much!
Other than that, this is violent! There should be a serious warning for graphic depictions of violence for this one!
I spoiled myself about the rape scene but I wasn't expecting it to actually happen.I thought they just mention it or something and that was super shocking.
So was chapter 15!!!! I'm just speechless!
P.S.: I can't believe how emotionally invested in these characters I am. I love them all!
Tiny spoiler at the very end of the review!
A series of short stories based in the same universe as the Grishaverse. I love this universe and I love how Leigh Bardugo tells stories.
This collection is supposed to be folk stories of that world and it successfully reads as folk stories. They all have some weird, warped message to give which was wonderful and they also had the unexpectedly dark tone that some fairytales show once in a while. (depending on which version you read!)
My rating, however, isn't higher because it isn't so awe-inspiring to actually deserve too high a rating. It's a very mild read. It's good and enjoyable but it's not the kind that just consumes your body and soul.
Three of the stories are short stories we've already had but then there are retellings of The Beauty and the Beast-I think!-, The Nutcracker and The little mermaid and those are the best parts of the book.
I really recommend this book to anyone who's in the mood to read some darkly satisfying fairytales.

The darkling shows up in “When water sang fire”, right? omg! I ...I was freaking out!
I thought about finishing this book and then writing a review explaining why it's a terrible read but then I thought I could save myself my time and sanity and just reread a book that explains fandom better (aka Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell).
All I can say is, this book is all the creepy stuff everyone thinks fandom is and it's not even that well written.
