Again, a good Scalzi. I’ve liked it less than Kaijus and Starter Villain, but I still enjoyed it a lot. Scalzi’s humour is there and some chapters are quite touching.

Again, a nice anthology. My favorite stories are:

Presumed Alien, by David Boop (funny and surprising)

There’s Some Thing Under the Bed, by Garon Whited (original)

I need to Clear my Inbox, by Noah Lemelson (also original)

BWDOC, by James Van Pelt (sweet)

Souvenirs, Gail Z Martin (touching)

Probably more of a 4.5 stars. It was indeed a cozy read, with cute and touching moments. And found family can be such a wonderful trope when done well. Love all the characters, especially Tao. I think the author had portrayed well the internal conflict an immigrant can feel: always an outsider to his now country but no longer feeling at ease with his native country.

A book I'll read again, for sure.

Belle lecture qui fait du bien, avec une fin touchante.

The drawings are of course top notch (I also have some of the plushies!), but I must say they go perfectly with their respective quotes. Some are funny, others are simple yet wise and many are touching and quite relatable (even more if you have and/or know cats!)

It's the kind of book you'll see in your bookcase and take out each time just to read one or a few pages.

Sincèrement, je n'ai pas ressenti le “feel-good” annoncé. Surtout dans les deux premières histoires qui étaient stressantes. Au moins, toutes finissaient bien. Mais si ce n'était des deux dernières histoires (et le mystère du docteur et de l'assistante), j'aurais donné 2 étoiles. J'adore les chats, j'adore le réalisme magique, mais ici, ça ne marche pas. Je ne peux pas l'expliquer. Je peux au moins dire que j'aime le twist du docteur et de l'assistante, même si leur histoire est un peu triste et douce-amère.

Dernier tome d'une magnifique série. On a des scènes drôles, touchantes, mignonnes. La fin est super selon moi, je ne l'ai pas vue venir. Même les « méchants » sont plus nuancés dans ce tome, surtout la reine.

Une série qui restera un coup de coeur.

Triste et un brin déprimant, mais beau, bien écrit et avec quand même des fins qui laissent présager de l'espoir.

Petite série en 3 tomes qui peut paraître mignonne, mais qui est en fait plutôt dure. On y parle de deuil, de la vie ses chats errants (la faim, les bagarres, la mort) et les rapports, bons et mauvais, qu'entretiennent les humains et les chats. Très beau dessin, superbe histoire, faut juste s'atteler à avoir les émotions chamboulées.

Beau et doux, plus proche du court-métrage que l'est le roman. Il faudrait d'ailleurs que je relise le roman, mais je crois bien que je préfère ce dernier au manga.

Magnifique histoire. À la fois douce, triste et parfois même drôle. L'espoir aussi s'y dégage. Petit plus: oui, l'histoire d'amour est chouette mais j'ai vraiment apprécié l'amitié du groupe.

Love the drawings, like the story. But I wasn't really emotionally invested. Still, I can see its qualities and why people loved it.

Such a sweet story! And the art! Oh the art! Gorgeous with very expressive (and funny!) faces! Oh and the Switch! Seriously, I lost it when I saw a character playing on the switch!

It's good and I can see why people loved it. Still has that Scalzi humour. But it's maybe too meta for me? All I know is that for now, it's my least favorite book from him. Although I must say that I've liked the codas, especially the last two. They were quite touching.

What a beautiful, imaginative and bittersweet story. I admit, I'm kinda speechless, which is a bit ironic since it's a book about how words, poetry and music are what humanity is made of.

Une histoire tranquille, délicate, avec quelques moments rageants (par exemple, le patron de Yama) et, surtout, une fin douce-amère. Aussi, j'ai adoré Yume et Yama.

Some stories are more than 30 years old and yet, they feel so modern and up-to-date.

Cute story and gorgeous illustrations!

I like all the characters, the changing of point of views, the story in itself. Bu what really sold me was the details. Like the difference between Earth and Mars, the fact that Alaska is now a country (found it quite funny!), the tidbits of history here and there. Also, it was also a nice touch to put racism there, not by the color of the skin, but by what planet you're from. Finally, love the casual depictation if LGBT+ people. We'll judge you on your actions, not for who you are! (And from where you're from lol)

Maybe more of a 3.5 stars. I've liked it. Can't say I didn't, but they were a few instances where I was just « wtf did I just read?? »

J'avais tellement aimé le premier roman de l'autrice que lorsque j'ai vu qu'elle avait écrit une préquelle, je savais qu'il fallait que je la lise. Et c'était, encore une fois, une merveilleuse histoire. Touchante. J'aime tous les personnages, même Peter Bancroft: on aime le détester! Je viens de relire Sous les étoiles de Bloomstone Manor, mais je crois que je vais le feuilleter pour reconnecter certains détails à la préquelle.

An interesting story. More mystery than horror. I liked the ending, but still felt a bit rushed. I would have taken a bit more of the sisters and a bit more explanation of the town's history (and mystery).

Simple story, yet cute and touching!

On se laisse entraîner avec plaisir dans cette aventure que vit Eloïse. On se questionne avec elle, on pleure avec elle. La fin, qui laissait présager une certaine voie, va plutôt dans une toute autre direction. Certains n'aimeront pas cette fin, mais pour ma part, je l'ai appréciée.

Ouf, rough. I like Alice, I saw a bit of myself in her. But the ending is too abrubt. There's no resolution. It was kinda a depressing story.
