I had mixed feeling about this book. For me, the paintings were good enough, classical and simple though almost felt like bland. Yet I expected more. Definitely me problem, not the book's.
I loved the first few pages because there were detailed-ish personal explained about the paintings, but after that there were only "Hello, I am ..." and it was not my cup of tea. Again, I expected more from this book.
I think I need to agree that art is personalize. What people think is good, might not good for the rest.
