During the first 1/4 I thought it was going to be a DNF something I'd never thought I'd say about a Sanderson. But soooooo glad I persevered - epic epic epic conclusion to Era 2.

Mehhhhh. 75% Boring, 25% good. I'm enjoying the books less and less as I go through the series. Tempted to stop, but might persevere.

4.5 stars. Spent so much of this book going WTF is going on. But excellent and satisfying story. Moved straight on to no.3.

Really enjoyed the supernatural stories, but wasn't so sold on the others

Had promise, and I can imagine of the time it was amazing. But it was pretty mind numbingly slow in places, plus the racist/colonial language used is not ok, and I just wanted more from the story. Meh.

3.5 stars - I really loved the premise - it was a surprise to me what the book was actually about. I really enjoyed it. However the characters were just rather mehhh. Which is such a shame.

Really enjoying Janice Halletts books, they're very clever!

This book was a warm cuppa - love it!

An unsettling folk tale with stunning illustrations another corker from Andersen Press.

Anyone who's read The Dark Tower will understand why I've read this.

Chilling and a good read.

Enjoyed this a lot, I'm not sure I would've if I hadn't listened to the podcast - it's very random!

A fitting end to a crazy awesome series

A good read but not nearly as funny as I was expecting it to be.

Wtf to the end of that book!

3.5 stars rounded to 4. A bit too teen fiction for me and nearly DNF in the first hour or so, but it did start to intrigue and I enjoyed seeing where the story went.

Absolutely stunning artwork - totally breathtaking. A lovely story.

This was an excellent finish to a complete masterpiece of a series. These books will stay with me. I feel grief that they've finished!

I appreciated this book more the second time round. It's wonderfully written.

Captivating, well written adventure

I liked the premise. I liked the way it highlighted sexism, misogyny and racism in the 50s. I enjoyed some of the set pieces of the story.

But for the most part I didn't enjoy the pace, didn't really connect with the characters, and the soft sex scenes were horrendously cringy with their space/engineer innuendos which made me eye roll. I'm not sure I'll pursue the series, which is a shame as I enjoyed the novella.

Southon is a fantastic writer blending ancient history with wicked humour. A fascinating read, uncomfortable at times, but overall a brilliant book. Southons wit and tone are what make it. Highly recommend.

This book was so good. When it started, I wasn't sure if it was going to be for me. But I'm so glad I persevered. It was beautifully written. By the end I was in love with all the characters. Even the ones I didn't think I could ever love.

4.5 Stars.

I really loved this series. It kept me hooked throughout the whole series. I enjoyed the characters - in book 2 I was a bit frustrated with Lila's charachter but she redeemed a bit more in this final book. Schwab did a great job of bringing nearly all the threads to a satisfying wrap up.

The thread for me that didn't quite do it for me was Alucard and Rhy, I reeeeeeeeallly wanted a public acknowledgement of their relationship. I was impressed with how Schwab wrote their relationship throughout the books, but just felt that at the end there, that final leap, without the need for hiding, pretense or excuse, I wished they could've been written in as publically together. That's where my final half star went!

Overall really recommend the series. I listened to the Audible audiobooks. I really enjoyed the narration, and although there was a jarring switch between from book 1 to book 2 & 3, I do love Kramer and Reading so it didn't take long getting used to.

4.5 stars. I enjoyed the continuing development of the story and world. But it felt like a slow book, where not an awful lot really happened. Also as much as I love lilah, there are some parts of her development that just make me roll my eyes. Where my belief was suspended just a bit too far in what she's capable of, or how she would act. But despite that, I'll be checking out the next one.
