Disappointed this is was more about a woman's romances rather than the her emancipation.

Every plotline felt so forced. Maybe the overtly schmaltzy coating is wearing off on me.

I liked the character of Saladin Chamcha,the hospital scene and the resolution with his father, but it was too confusing at times. I might return to it when I'm in the mood for a postmodernism book.

The restaurant of many orders gave me shivers.
