A scifi-folk-horror story of a doctor working in a small-town Minnesota hospital when a mysterious comet appears in the sky and strange noises, creatures, and a mysterious little girl appear.
The plot was what drew me to this (I love all three of the elements here) but overall, the story didn’t work for me. I found the writing too choppy and somewhat… simple? to fully engage with the story. And honestly, the main character, while interesting and engaging at first, just became annoyingly morose and kinda stupid (how many times must he be told to “stay together” before he clues in? apparently not until right at the end…)
The book had potential but it was too rushed didn’t land in any significant way for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Muse of the Moon Books for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
