⭐ 5 STARS ⭐
This isn't like my usual five-star reads—this one hits completely different.
I wasn't even interested in reading about the rise and fall of a rock band, yet somehow, here we are. It started with me mindlessly scrolling through the Libby app (as always), and there it was. I placed a hold on it without much thought, and when it became available, I figured, why not? A free audiobook? Sounds like a great idea. Plus, it was short (and since I listen at 2.2x speed—yeah, I know, I'm insane—it wouldn't take long). I hit play, and suddenly, it was over. One sitting. That's how addicting it was.
The characters in Daisy Jones & The Six are messy, flawed, and incredibly human. None of them are perfect, and yet, I loved them all. There was just something about them—something that made me feel for them, cry with them, get frustrated at them, and live through their heartbreaks. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a genius for making these people feel real. Like, real real. At one point, I had to stop and Google to make sure The Six wasn't actually a band from the '70s that I somehow missed. The way she weaves herself into the story through one of the characters? Absolutely brilliant.
This book isn't about a perfect love story or a dream career or a band that defied all odds. It's about how real life is messy, how timing is everything, and how sometimes, the people we love the most aren't meant to stay. It was raw, painful, beautiful—and I loved every second of it.
