An excellent book that feels so real despite being fiction. It looks at what people try to gain to achieve beauty and what's lost when we ignore the beauty that can be found in ugliness too. It's so much more than that though, touching on consumerism, the toxicity of wellness culture, and how big businesses run by men exploit young women.
The book isn't a happy one, but it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

I loved how Grady Hendrix used the seven stages of grief as a framework for telling this story involving haunted puppets. I was pleasantly surprised at the range of emotions found in this book too. It's creepy for sure, but there's more depth to it than just being scary.
The dialogue is wonderful in this book and it really kept me engaged with everything going on.
