Before reading this I've only read a few short stories of Asimov's and two novels, one almost 15 years ago in high school. To also preface this short review I am a huge fan of Dune. After reading I am excited to read more of the series. Without spoiling too much the foundation reminded me a lot of the bene gesserit from Dune. To me it was an excellently crafted story and drew me in easily. I also remember a short video i watched many years ago which talked about how scientists were concerned that future civilization would be unaware of dangers of the byproducts of progress i.e. nuclear waste. I find the central premise kept bringing me back to that video in my head. I think overall Asimov did a fantastic job create the universe and roping the audience in to future entries in the series. Overall i see myself finishing the series and even returning to it in the future.

I picked up The Bookshop of Secrets during a bogo sale with the Patrick Stewart memoir it was not on my radar prior to that. What I found was a good spy book which captured my intrigue. While I felt like the premise was great and the writing was good I felt as though it fell through from being something that will leave a lasting impression or something I’ll come back to. Overall I found that the pace at some points kept me from caring about some of the characters outside our main protagonist. Overall a good story with some shortcomings.

I was enthralled through and through with the memoir, as a huge fan of Star Trek of course my primary knowledge of Stewart is in his role of Captain Picard, I was drawn in by how his career drew him to the role and how he became the Stewart I know today. All in all I think for anyone who is a fan of Stewart from any point in his career should read his story.

Abundance is a great book for those who want to learn more about the politics which hold back innovation or more or less a theory as to what politics hold back innovation. I've said this about several other books before but I feel as someone who follows politics this book to me is more to know what the zeitgeist of casual consumers of political hobbyism will be talking about rather than a chance to learn and gain something new. I found the argumentation to be good but I already went into this book knowing I agreed with much of the premise. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to gain an overview of the argument.

Richard Osman once again delivers on a great murder mystery. I enjoyed following along as our gang of unlikely detectives solved this thrilling mystery. I found that the murder was solvable and rewarding to finally get that sweet release of a whodunit. The characters are charming and lovely and I can't wait to read the next murder they solve.

This book was a rather short read and told an interesting story, i enjoyed learning about Stéphane Breitwieser but overall i found it just that interesting,I think Finkel did a good job portraying the story but its not something that will stick in my mind and find a home there.

The Thursday Murder Club is a cute and fun murder mystery which I enjoyed, I felt like there were certain parts which keeps me from giving the book higher than 3 stars. I think that when it comes to murder mysteries there are many ways to skin a cat but some things remain sacred.

I think that there are parts of the mystery which could not be solved by the reader until the reveal which it me lowers my enjoyment of the book. Besides this the books settings, characters and plot were all fantastic and made want to keep reading I hope that the other books in the series do not contain such left turns as this one did.

If you are looking for a fun nursery mystery that has a colorful cast I recommend this book.

The Glass Hotel is the third book of Emily St. John Mandel I've read and i continue to be enthralled by her writing and her stories. There is something ineffable about the way she tells stories that draws me in and hooks me it scratches and itch that i cant describe. I highly recommend any and all of her books I've read and cant wait to read more from her.

When I first read Dune in high school I fell in love, not just with Dune but with reading as a whole. I had always liked reading but never really loved it. Dune was the first book to really transport me to another world. Since then I've reread Dune almost every year. I think its one of the greatest stories ever told and a must read for everyone and anyone.

I think this book is a good read to have an understanding of one the foundational texts in linguistic philosophy and understanding where many modern theories have their basis. Building on that I think I would only recommend this book to those which are really interested in learning about linguistic philosophy.
