See allTold in three parts, following the character “Dean” from the previous book “How much too...?”
Overall tone and feel is very “A Serbian Film” in that it starts out relatively tame and just ramps up from there in oppressing darkness, hopelessness and desperation, to the point where the only available thing to do is to shoot yourself, minus the sex. Also, you actually have a care for what happens to the characters. The setting itself isn't dark, everything is done with the lights on and cameras rolling.
While the previous book stuck more to characters and plot, interspersing with more gross out than violence, this book is the oposite. It has less dark humor, more violence/violent acts/painful acts, and a couple of emotial hostage scenes. Seasoned readers of the genre will no doubt see the twist coming that the main character didn't
Again, a critique on how the world has changed into more-gore, more-ratings, and how the lone man who tries to break the wheel often will get crushed beneath it.
Also, I discoverd that this duet (How much to...?) is either a spinoff/sequel/prequel to “The Game” and “The Game 2: Season Break” written in 2017. I read them after this book thinking they were sequels, but I guess they came first. You can read them after this one as well, just keep the duets in order.
This book is a good start to a series drenched in lots of fun, paranoramal intrique, plots and machinations, and sex. Lots and lots of blood kissed, menage, no holds barred paranormal sex.
Lol.
It's told in multiple first person so that everyone gets a chance to show their POV. Nothing gets missed. This book basically sets up the series. I did get a bit tired of some of the human aspects of Shara's personality and beliefs getting in the way of what needs to get done, but she gets over it. The point is that she didn't grow up in the world that she is now a part of, so she isnt already “tainted” by it.
She has one or two really TSTL moments but if you can get past them, the series pans out. Her naivety gets a little tired, but again, it pans out later in the series as it develops.
Read this is you are looking for a new series, like lots of hot paranormal menage, and like dynamic, progressive series that actually end.
Review for the Narrarator in the Audio Book**
Im listening to the audio version from the library and I have to say that the narrator's cadence is very William Shatner-esque, he takes a lot of random pauses.
A more irritating thing in the total of 10 minutes I was able to listen to, he sounded like he REALLY needed to clear his throat. The whole time I was listening, I couldn't help focusing on that sound. You know when someone has a bit of phlegm and it causes that vibrating/gravely sound? Yeah, he had this in every word.
Now, this could be because I listened on my iPod next to my pillow at night, using the iPod speaker and not any blue tooth or headset, but this is the first time it sounded like this for any of the books.
So, I guess this is a miss for me when it comes to audio. However, I do have the eBook as well. I was really surprised that it came to me from being on hold since it was released. I thought I would have to wait a long time, but I guess not too many people were interested in reading it. I will avoid any further reviews before reading it. This is just the review for the acting on the audio version of this book.
I didn't note the name of the actor doing this book, but I would suggest that he make sure his voice sounds clearer, and that he learn to pace himself better. I haven't even gotten to the part where he supposedly botched the other character voices. I just DNF'ed the audio.
I hope the story ends up being good though.
Will Review the ebook later after reading it.

Ok, So I read the book and I am glad I did. Honestly, I really liked it. Without going too much into it, I found that it dealt with themes and ideas and characters that haven't been explored too much in previous fantasy/Paranomal Urban type books before.
I know that many people didn't like it because of the religious aspect, but let's put that aside and just say that I really enjoyed it.
That's all
