Goal
34/100 booksRead 100 books by Dec 30, 2024. You're 50 books behind schedule.
This was a lovely, short, and thought provoking read.
This one is hard to review for me, due to the nature of this book, not a huge amount actually happens. So the pace would likely be considered slow, HOWEVER, you learn a lot about love and life and loss and hope and just... how humanity operates, and I couldn't put it down.
I loved how the magical realism in this book lends itself to true life lessons about how every moment, and every decision, matters.
I have already purchased the other 3 books in this series and will be spreading them out over 2024 when I feel like a reflective, and truly beautiful reading experience.

I am a huge Sarah J. Maas fan, and this one was no different. I struggled a little in the first 100 or so pages, as this is a whole different era, set in modern day, and there was a lot of set up (that was 100% needed) for the plot of this book to actually get going.
HOWEVER, once we understood the world we were in and the stakes of this world, it was fantastic. I love the themes of loss and how to not lose yourself in loss, I love the romance themes, learning to trust and over come past hardship and trauma, plus the over arching story is building to something I can already feel will be great (remembering this is book one in a minimum 3 book series) it is over 800 words and I devoured it all.
Very excited for the rest of this series

I REALLY enjoyed this book. This is not my standard type of read. I am very much a fantasy girly at heart, but like to break up the big series I read with smaller, less heavy world building books with things that are a little out of my comfort zone and this hit that spot perfectly
This book has a really good balance of dark and funny, its whip lash-like occasionally but in the best possible way. Going for cringing at the rather graphic scene to laughing at the banter between the main leads within a few seconds.
I would call this medium paced, its definitely slower than a lot of books I read however it kept me hooked and listened to it within a few sessions on audible.
Have to take the time to appreciate the voice actors of this book. They both had chemistry which made it a really enjoyable. Plus I really liked the accent... Lol
Check trigger warnings, definitely heavy in some spots, but very very fun for me overall!
