This book had its highlights, but in many places fell on its tail! (fish joke there).

I really wanted to love this book, but in a world of YA novels where the characters mature and are given great arcs that allow them to learn so much about themselves, this book just can't live up to those books. If you want a relatively low-stakes book that doesn't tackle any complex themes and has gay teenagers, this could float your boat, but if you are looking for anything deeper than that, you're in the wrong place.

The writing in the book has some good parts that I did enjoy but also I found it would repeat certain lines like that had one character had a “donkey laugh” and the book kept incessantly, bringing it up whenever the character showed any form form of joy, it was enduring in the beginning but by the end of the book you are wishing to never hear the term again and even now hearing the term makes me cringe a little.

I'm not saying the book was all bad, I had some moments that made me smile to myself, and sometimes I chuckled a little, so by no means is it a horrible read, but don't go into this expecting to have a life-changing queer media that makes you question everything it is very akin to a Disney movie in that regard good light hearted fun but with some clunky dialogue that goes along with it

Overall, I think the book was fine, but I can't help feeling a little disappointed as I believe that if the plot had been executed a little better, this could have very easily become a four or even five-star book, but it just failed in some key areas to convince me to love it.

Really good though it can be a little like going around in circles at some points

What are you doing? Looking at the reviews? Go buy the book you will not regret it. Has queer rights but also queer wrong to say this is FIRE would be an understatement the way that the author takes me into the rotten world and make me love the people in it is one of a kind absolute Cinema
