This is something quite different from Asher's recent works, and takes place in a human culture long separated from the Polity and the rest of humanity. Highly recommended.

On reading this series a second time, 10++ years later, it's as good as the first time.

I recall liking it at the time...

It's basically a heist movie plot, in a future where humanity is scruff the stars; but has not done well in attempts to genetically engineer itself. The characters are all broken in their own ways. Loving it.

A lot of fun. Trying to get my kids to read it. I should probably say, your not allowed to read this until you are 18 then want to

On reading for the second time 10, 15 years later it's as good if not better than the first time.

Not a case where the later books in a series are as good as the first. 4 stars because I can't give 3 ½ stars

Nicely socialist and anti-establishmentist. Is Clay a nod to Polandball, I wonder. https://funnyjunk.com/channel/polandball/Of+rightful+clay/GdnnLTq/
