While this book does have a lot of my fav qualities of a romance, its also the strangest book I've ever read.

Idk why the setting was where it was, or why it was a romance novel, or why his best friend is a figment of his imagination? I will say, i could not put it down.

Yeah idk what I was expecting here but it wasnt torture porn, that's for sure. And really its a shame bc there were a few gems tucked away in this book that were fun and dark and sexy, and then theres ones where its just a random guy who might be a vampire stalking and sexually assaulting a woman????

What began as a funny, even sexy tale about a man and woman learning to embrace vulnerability and let love happen, very abruptly nose dived into a transphobic rhetoric in the very last 15 pages. This was wildly disappointing, as the rest of the 430 pages were a joy to read. This book did not age well, and I hope the author has since reevaluated why transphobia should be the solution to an entire story arc.
