The Romanov Sisters: The Lost Lives of the Daughters of Nicholas and Alexandra

Wrote a review for

I had absolutely no knowledge about the older sisters, which is why I picked up this book, and it definitely fleshes them out in vivid color. The author goes into incredible detail of their entire lives as well as their parents and brother; sometimes I didn't care to hear this level of detail but most of the time, I found it insightful.

I was really surprised at the amount of information the author was able to find because I assumed anything to do with the family would have been burned or destroyed during the revolution. Who knew their home would be kept as a museum the author could walk through? But the author does mention that the mother burned alot of hers and her husband's personal documents before they were arrested and the documents misinterpreted. The author also does refer to alot of second-hand sources that imply alot of primary source information was no longer available.

And I'd heard alot about the relationship between the mother and her spiritual advisor which this book gives a bit more perspective to.

I highly recommend this book.
