DNF

I really liked the idea of a detective experiencing the mind/thoughts/memories of a ‘witness'. There's just too much jumping around to too many characters with little to no explanation or context, and so much cryptic religious narration that doesn't really further the plot along. So, with over 600 pages I figured to just cut my losses. (Also, dude we get it, you own a thesaurus. Calm down)

Listened to the audio-book, which is read by Maria Bamford. If you're a fan of her stand-up, it is basically an 8-hour stand-up album memoir

It was interesting, but man it took a long time to really get going. A long time with a just truly detestable main character, even before they fully fall into their psychosis.

After the craziness and cool, creepy atmosphere of Annihilation, Authority was such a disappointment. The setting changes from out in 'the shit' to a dusty office building. Control is just an insufferably boring character with a dumb pseudonym to boot. It honestly sapped all my enthusiasm for finishing the series and I haven't gotten back to it. Maybe I will one day, I bought the trilogy edition of it after all. Meh
