Finally caught up with Absolute Batman after hearing so much about it, and the hype was justified. This is exactly the kind of Batman story I love: bold, fresh, and unafraid to rethink the mythos, much like Telltale’s Batman. Stripping Bruce of his money simply highlights what makes him compelling to me: his intelligence, resourcefulness, and intense obsession. I can’t wait to read more in this universe.
A grounded Batman story that feels like it's in the world of Matt Reeves' "The Batman" (which makes sense since the writer contributed to the movie). I love when Batman's psyche is dissected, and the framing device of him visiting a therapist, with the risk of being exposed as an imposter messing up his image, is fascinating. Bruce exploring a potential new relationship and seeing where their paths cross in this venture is also fun; very "Mask of the Phantasm".
That said, the imposter storyline wasn't as intriguing. When their identity is revealed near the end, it feels pretty "meh", and the story just stops.
Overall, a fine Batman story that is a little average in its mystery, but a fun look into Bruce's psyche.
