4.5This has a very slow start, but the payoff was EPIC. I love the characters and their relationships and some parts had me so close to tears.I had low hopes for this one coz I wasn't a huge fan of [b:The Shadows 60316938 The Shadows Alex North https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1650844320l/60316938.SY75.jpg 74223629] but this one was SOO good!! Def recommend:))
One of my most anticipated reads of 2021 and it was just so boring boring boring.
I was SO BORED that at one point I just started skimming through the chapters coz I wanted to find out the big mystery behind everything. But then it wasn't explained properly. Wasted so much time for nothing. *smh
If you are searching for smthg with a similar concept just watch the show manifest, that is like 1000 times better than this:)
3.5
I wish I had known that this was more of a character/psychological study when going in coz I expected more of a mystery/thriller.
It had a very slow start but then as the book goes on, you get invested in the characters and everything they did and it makes it easier to continue.
Some parts had me so close to tears and other parts just hit me in a whole other way.
Def recommend this one!!
Went into this hoping for [b:The Mindf*ck Series 44799982 The Mindfck Series (Mindfck, #1-5) S.T. Abby https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1554575415l/44799982.SY75.jpg 54013122] vibes and I def got it. So if you loved the mindfck series I recommend checking this out and vice versa.I am gonna try n finish the rest of my lib books asap and get to the library so I can get the 2nd and 3rd books!!
3.25
The book starts off very slowly and the characters make VERY dumb decisions. I mean who goes on a trip a few weeks before you are about to give birth? So that kinda annoyed me. And there were some parts I forgot coz I read the few chapters and coz I was so bored I put it down and didn't pick it up for a while.
But decided to continue and it went okay. The twists caught me off guard and when the first twist came I was shookkk, didn't expect that.
I must say tho I am not a fan of the direction the book went in coz u have to suspend your disbelief quite a bit.
But overall a good read:)
Check tw pls coz it deals with some very heavy topics surrounding babies. And those parts were very hard for me to read.
3.5
Not the fast paced, twisty thriller I was looking for but still a great read nonetheless.
It was so slow at the beginning even tho we had VERY short chapters but after the 50% mark when things started getting revealed I got more into the story.
Like all the reviewers say, I suggest trying to read upto the 50% mark if it feels slow for u coz after that the reveals start happening pretty quickly.
The guest list is still my fav tho by Lucy Foley coz its one of the first thrillers I read aand one of my first 5 star reads.
Had high hopes for this one because it has been compared to The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware a lot (one of my fav books) but it was such a disappointing read.
While some parts did feel very creepy/spooky other parts felt like they didn't have any depth.
This had soo much potential to have all the spooky atmospheric feels coz its set in Norway and with all the various legends but I feel like by the way it was done I didn't feel any of those atmospheric vibes.
But I did enjoy the part with the folk tales and the sad lady coz those parts genuinely creeped me out, I had just put the book down and was getting ready to sleep and I suddenly saw the description of the sad lady in my mind and had to keep d light on for a bit lol.
I also liked the part abt how the building of this house was affecting nature and the things that kept happening, coz those parts were described really well.
It took me abt a week to actually get into the story and when I was in I was so immersed and it felt lie a definite 4 star ,but unfortunately the ending was a major let down and I guessed one of the huge ‘twists' a few chapters before it was revealed, hence the 3.25 star rating.
I loved the writing tho so I am thinking of starting another one by the author, any recs?(I read little secrets in Jan and loved it!!)
Guyss!! this book!! READ IT!!
Even tho it was a 450+ page book i finished it in abt 2 days or smthg coz its soo goodd!!
At first it felt like a 4 star but the last paragraph just upgraded it to a 5 star
I learnt so much and idk if the author is a psychologist or he has done deep research but everything was so interesting to read.(how psychopaths think, work,do stuff, etc)
If it isn't obvious already HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!
I am def reading the rest of the series starting from book #1 and hopefully all of them r similar to this in terms of the psychological aspects.
Currently in a mega book hangover coz I just finished the series.
Finished it in less than 24 hrs who am I?!!?
Wow the feelings I get when I think of the book is so hard to describe;
I couldn't stop crying at some parts coz my heart went out to these characters and everything they went through.
Overall thoughts on the series.
I couldn't care less abt the romance that was happening in here, but as the series went on I was able to start tolerating it more and more.
Lovee the characters and I felt so much anger and hatred toward everyone that did them wrong and I was so glad with the way everything happened in the end.
I want to say more but coz its a series with really short books Im afraid that I might spoil it.
BUT PLEASE IF YOU ARE SEEING THIS AND HAVEN'T READ THE SERIES YET. GO READ IT NOW!!!!!
This would make a perfect tv show btw <3
Guys!!! I didn't expect to like this book this much :0 :0
Like whatt
At first it was very confusing yes, but as the book went on it became much easier to understand and digest. Even though some parts did go over my head I really enjoyed reading this!!:))
Now I regret not getting the 2nd and 3rd books from d library:(( coz i want to start them ASAP!!
Reading this felt like having a conversation with someone who you are close to, someone you trust. Everything is shown in a way that is very easy to understand. From the words to the pictures to the comics it was very simple and useful.
And I learnt a lot by reading this; the author showed us how to accept and love someone who is coming out, how just because we are assigned a certain gender at birth it's always not who we actually are, and how society has a certain way of how girls are supposed to act and how boys are supposed to act and much more.
The author also left spaces for us to write our personal thoughts and feelings and I wish that I had a print copy so I can write and annotate coz it's impossible to do it with the ebook:(
Also coz it's an ebook and the book is illustrated like a comic some parts overlapped with others and it was very confusing to read at times coz two sentences would be intertwined.
But overall I really liked this! Highly recommend checking this out!
3.25
I am very conflicted with the rating I want to give this coz there were some parts I liked and some parts I didn't.
It started off with a bang and I was really invested at first like imagine having to wake up every morning and you don't remember anything that happened in the past 2 years of your life....a very chilling thought. So I was really interested in seeing how everything was gonna happen. But then I kept getting so annoyed with Liv, coz with every opportunity she had to get to know what happened to her she either ran away or she did something so idiotic that messed everything up because if I was in the same situation as her I would do anything and everything to try and find out what was happening to me.
Some parts were so repetitive and I knew what Liv was gonna do even before she did it because she just kept making the same mistake over and over again.
Also the ending, the thing that actually happened; I saw it coming abt a 100 pages before it was actually revealed and I didn't think the story would go there but it did and that was also very underwhelming.
With that being said what I really enjoyed in the book was the perspectives we got from the detectives. I wish we had more books with them because it was fun and interesting to follow along the case with them.
I found this book in my dads collection when I was abt 12/13 after I had finished exams and was looking for something to read. And it was so insightful. I have reread it so many times and each time I read it I get a different message from it.
I keep it around with me and read it whenever I need some advice or help.
Highly recommend if you are a teen coz it gives very helpful advice in terms of school life, when dealing with parents/friends, addictions, etc
Also this is the only self help book I've read and loved (I read fiction mostly)
