After reading a bunch of books on productivity during the lockdown and getting burned out, this book was a great rejuvenator in the productivity space, or should I say, feel-good productivity space. Love all the anecdotes and researches that were cited. Its an easy read with practical steps to follow along.
Felt a bit slow towards the third part of the book but the experiments kept me engrossed. Loved the ‘Wheel of Life' experiment the most and I see myself trying that out for sure.
A great debut for Author Ali Abdaal
Such a great finish to the Kickstarter. Read all the Secret Projects and ended with this one even though I am only half way through the first Strormlight Archive book. The reading on that one has been slow but this novel got me excited and will now be a catalyst in finishing the Stormlight Archive soon. I would be give this book a 4/5 just because I don't know all the references from SA yet.
PS: The other three Secret Projects are an absolute gem. Defintely a 4.5/5 or 5/5 for me!
A great book highlighting the history behind idol-worship across the globe and bringing to light many of the aspects of different Hindu Gods and Goddesses. I was looking for such a book for some time now and finally Amish delievered.
Here's what I loved about the book:
1. The Topic of Ishta Devtas and how devotees connect to them
2. Exploring the core as well an surface notions in Hinduism
3. Correlation with other polythiest religions like that of Greek and Egyptian
What I didn't enjoy as much:
1. Digressing from current topic too much to discuss correlations with Greek Culture.
2. Less information about Pranprathista in Murti Pujas and precursor to idol worships: Mandals & Yantras.
3. Less information about Nirguna Bhakti and it's parallelism with Abrahmaic Faiths.
