See allThe Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is a thoughtful, emotional take on immortality that surprised me in the best way.
I was immediately drawn to the idea of an immortal main character, but I didn't expect the limitations of that immortality to be such a central and painful part of the story. Addie's struggles felt deeply human, and I found myself genuinely connecting with what it would be like to exist without being remembered. The book made me stop and think more than once about identity, loneliness, and what it really means to leave a mark on the world.
The pacing was a little slow at first, especially before the other characters fully entered the story. That said, once I understood the direction the book was heading, it completely pulled me in. From that point on, I had a hard time putting it down.
I thoroughly enjoyed the ending and felt it was emotionally satisfying and true to the journey Addie had taken. Overall, this was a rewarding read that stayed with me after I finished it, and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys character-driven stories with a touch of fantasy and a lot of heart.
