This is my favorite book I’ve ever read. I read a lot, and fantasy is one of my favorite genres. This incorporates many of my favorite fantasy tropes in new ways; is a rare case of healthy friendships and romance while still having conflict; has a lot of characters who are memorable, diverse, complex, and so lovable that I miss them when I put the book down. It’s creative, has a very cool twist on King Arthur legends, and weaves together so many big things (grief, discrimination, inheritance, politics, etc) in complex ways without getting too bogged down or dark. It’s unbelievably well-written, creative, fun, and heartfelt.
