Idk what to say about this book. I guess I loved the atmosphere and I also liked learning about Fuyuko's point of view.
Honestly, this is my least favorite from Kawakami. It should've been more straightforward and don't make me talk about that plot twist. Despite all that, I loved the sensations and the main relationship.
I loved this book's analysis and description of how being a middle age working class woman experience is like.
The descriptions were nice and soothing at first but sincerely, they became repetitive eventually.
Apart from that, I loved it. I think that It makes sense stylistically that Natsuko as a writer, is very detailed with her thoughts and Dead Eye is more simplistic.
Okay, gotta say a lotta things about this book.
At the very beginning I was utterly confused cause when I normally read romcoms I guess I expect to be introduced to the love interest like, explicitly. And that was not the case with this book. I know Cas is supposed to be the one in the cover so it was supposed to be kinda obvious, but idk, it didn't feel like that. What I mean is this feels more like a slice of life coming of age instead of a romcom as Cas love plot isn't revealed till the very end
I do have to say I loved the mystery and social mess from the beginning. Maybe the characters weren't too fleshed out but that was okay.
Overall, fun and entertaining but lacks uniqueness and depth.
So, I have very mixed feelings about this book. By themselves, the topics of grief and guilt are well spoken but I think that it sometimes got shallow and I couldn't connect with the characters. I have to say it: Diego felt like a manic pixie dream boy who appeared out of thin air and I would've found it believable that he was an alien tbh. He befriends Henry as if he was his guardian angel and it doesn't sit right with me. Loved some ideas I have to say and I'm glad this changed so many people's life, but it was not the case for me sns
