I can't believe I actually read this entire book, waiting for it to get better or have some shocking twist. Unfortunately, the story stayed boring throughout, and the “secret” of the convent was not very interesting either.

It seems more like a history book rather than a novel. Also, I find fiction written in the present tense rather annoying.

Way too many unnecessary plotlines and historical details stuffed in for no apparent reason.

I found it just too boring to continue reading....

I gave up after 109 pages because it was just too tedious.

Enjoyable, although I think I might have read it too soon after “The Sister Queens” by Sophie Perinot (which deals mainly with Marguerite and Eleanor).

Not scary at all, actually kind of boring.

This was essentially an episode of “24” set in ancient Egypt.

I was looking forward to reading this book for so long, and then...it turned out to be rather disappointing. The writing style was cumbersome and hard to follow (e.g., just who does “he” refer to?). The word that best describes this book? Pretentious.

I enjoyed the parts about his life, but the profiles of various directors and actors tended to drag on.

Very thorough and detailed (and so I ended up skimming through quite a bit :)

Not great, but not bad either. At least it's better than “The White Queen”.

Neither Mary nor Elizabeth comes across as even remotely appealing. The tone of the whole thing is very gossipy and lurid. And having Elizabeth and Thomas Seymour have sex is just too much!

More of a 2.5 star rating. I'm getting tired of Lady Emily's moping around and feeling that everyone is against her. Also, the villian's motive seemed to come out of nowhere. Still, this book was better than the previous one in the series, Tears of Pearl.

A book with Isaac Asimov as one of the characters? Oh yeah!

It was fun to read as a novelty, but the actual story and writing style were not very good.

An excellent review of the Mass for Catholics and a straightforward explanation for everyone else.

Amusing and an easy read.

This was a pretty good book, but I thought the surprise twist that gave a happy ending was unnecessary.

Mildly amusing, and a fast read.

It was OK, but not as good as the first book in this series. Plus, my e-reader had problems displaying the text, so it took me a very long time to read.

This book was a slow starter, but then it picked up. And whoa–very disturbing and violent! Not exactly a light-hearted read.

Another one that I couldn't get into, so I might as well just return it to the library.
