I have read Len Deighton for over 50 years. I love spy novels, and his were always the best... he is the master! This is not a spy novel; it is a story of the film industry, inspired by Len’s experience with writing and producing films. For me, the most interesting part was the afterword where he talks about his real experiences with Hollywood, the William Morris Agency, famous actors, etc.
I was heartbroken to learn that Len Deighton died last month... March 15, 2026, age 97.
