okay it says it took me forever to finish this book but really ive just been reading it on and off since then bc it's so slow. like soooo slow. but like the first one, the last 30 pages are so cray that it lowkey makes up for the rest of the book. i love love lovedddd the first one so this was a bit of a let down, but i still love these characters and this story. we'll see how the third one goes, although this was slow af i do kinda think it was necessary to the trilogy bc so many new characters and plot points and secrets were revealed. but we'll see
this was literal perfection
i have mentioned this before but i am a plot girly. i will take a book/movie/tv show with lots of plot and little character development over a character driven story with no plot. dazed and confused for example. all character no plot, hated it.
this book is very plot heavy. the fmc is so guarded that even i as the reader don't know her. and i LOVED that. it felt that much more intimate, like i was getting to know her as the mmc was getting to know her, even though she was the narrator. it was so cool to read.
and ofc it's vampires x hunger games so fuck yeah
and i usually hate politics in books but personally i think this was done really well. it had me still interested.
i gaf about this book. i gaf.

i don't know what to say but i have to say something because leaving no review feels a disgrace to my impression of this book.
i genuinely feel as if this book has changed me. i feel like i have said that kind of thing a lot after reading a really good book, but it's different with this one. my world is so much surrounded by love and other things she talks about in this book and i just felt so seen. i see myself in dolly, in her thoughts and experiences. i see myself in how she deals with things she's going through, her perspective on love. and because of that, reading her growth and change of perspective throughout the book truly had such an impact and change on me. she writes her development in such a beautiful and profound way, it's hard to not be affected by it. i think i could write an essay on how well dolly captures exactly what is in my head. love to this book always ❤️

“But Lemon, overworked and exhausted Lemon, loved that crooked-mouthed dishwasher she'd met displaced in time, and she came to work with watercolors under her nails on accident, and she took travel guides from the free bookshelves near the elevators, and she had an itch under her skin, and a passport full of stamps, and a wild heart.”
i hated this book in the first half but the second half made up for it. eh idk there were good things and bad things.
HOLY SHITTTT. HOLYYYYYYYYY
oh my god this book. amazing. incredible. the plot twists had my jaw DROPPED. and it was so well written that i did not see them coming at ALL but when it was revealed i was like ohhhh my god there were so many clues leading up to this. anyways fire book incredible ending i will be going to barnes n noble tomorrow and getting the second and third book.

okay this book was so good until like the last 70/80 pages. i kind of realized as i was reading the end that a) this book is insanely character driven, there is barely any plot that happens throughout the novel. b) the characters aren't even that deep. romans only character trait is that he's in love with iris. the entire book. and iris just wants to write and find her brother until all of the sudden it's just roman roman roman. and when she finally (spoiler) finds her brother, she's only thinking about roman she doesn't once for a second rejoice that her entire goal this book was to find forest. also no character arcs?? i think these characters stayed the exact same the entire way through. now don't get me wrong i LOVE a good romance. it's in my top three favorite genres. i especially love romantasy. which this was advertised as. but romantasy means a fantasy with romance. there was very little plot fantasy aspect. i'm a plot girly and this romance was stifling. i almost wished we didn't have romans pov, i feel like that might've made it better for me. now all this being said i am probably going to read the next one, but this book was a big let down
