Reads like a cross between Alice in Wonderland and, for religious scaffolding, Chronicles of Narnia. At times I felt as fustrated as the main character Ponce in the direction of the adventure, but it was all worth it in the end.

Had to read this long long ago as a high school assignment. Rereading it is much more meaningful now than then.

I wanted to like this book, but as it went on, the style became overwhelming and eventually had to stop reading and put it aside. While I'm in awe of the writing's ability to put you into a certain skewed mindset, the overabundance of detail eventually got in too much in the way and I just couldn't stand slogging trough it anymore.
