At first, it didn’t really grab me, but you just need a bit of patience to get far enough in and let the whole situation unfold, and then you won’t be able to put it down. This book draws you in with characters so real and so well written that it almost hurts. I’m struck by how well the characters are portrayed, to the point where I can empathise with some of them even if I don’t like them. It felt as though I were being told the stories of real people. I should also add that some of the experiences—or rather, the thoughts—felt very close to home, and perhaps that’s why it resonated with me so deeply.
