Evil - pure evil. William Lee “Cody” Neal was one very sadistic killer - one who used women to get what he wanted - and then killed them.
While he seemed to start killing out of nowhere, there is a thought that he may have been killing long before he was caught - there is just no proof.
Cody Neal used his looks, and the money that he was scamming out of women to lure other women to him. When pressed to pay back his loans, he would turn to murder, keeping a sort of mortuary in his home - which would have horrified anyone that saw it.
This case, was interesting in many ways, as Cody Neal seemed to be very bright. But instead of using his brains for good, he turned to crime instead.
Great read! I enjoyed this one!
What a book! I had watched a few movies where PT boats were used but never knew the history of these men until now.
The PT boats were an underrated aspect that the Navy held. They would not understand or take full advantage of these boats for some time, allowing them to be used for messenger running or other small tasks. These boats and the men who comprised their crews proved their worth and the value they could lend to the Navy.
Well done, and a fabulous read! One of my favorites of the year so far!
Oh my goodness! If you are a fan of mysteries, somewhat in the style of Holmes and Watson - you will LOVE this book! I could not put it down!
A mummy, a mysterious jewel, a missing husband - these are the things that start the investigation into the young schoolteacher who goes missing after discovering a jewel in the chest of an ancient mummy. When his body turns up, the investigation will take several twists and turns. Who is responsible, and where did the jewel go?
Absolutely a stunning and well-crafted book. I could not put this one down at all! The audio version was fantastic, and I listened through it almost non-stop (minus 30 minutes in the car with kids). Cannot wait to read more from this author!
This was a really interesting look into the Burgess Shale, and the many different studies that have gone on throughout the years. Beginning with the first, the next fifty years have given more information.
There is a lot of scientific terms, and the different lists were helpful in running down the information. Great book! I enjoyed it immensely.

Super cute! Loved it!
What a cute little story! I loved it!
Asha's father sells wooden toys. Some days he sells some, but not all. There are days that he does not sell any.
Asha gets the idea to paint the wooden toys, to make them brighter. When her father wants her to study instead, she sneaks downstairs and paints the toys, which sell out quickly.
I loved this book. It was a great story.
Uncharted takes you on a journey through the Americas and the impacts that were felt around the globe, from ancient times through Columbus.
It was an interesting read, and as a historian, it opened some questions that I had not considered before. I am interested in doing some further research and seeing where it goes.
Great read overall!
A serial killer hides in plain sight, yet most people think that it cannot be him. He was reformed. He was working to make something of himself. But, they were wrong. Those who had suspicions voiced them to authorities, but somehow he managed to elude the cops for several years.
I knew some of the facets of this case, but not all of them. Wow, just wow. I was blown away with the facts, and wondered how on earth this young man managed to evade capture for so long.
Great book for true crime lovers!
The interesting career of Edward Rulloff was exciting to say the least. In addition to murdering several people, and being accused of murdering two others, he was manically insane. Bent on producing what he considered “his life work” which was the study of language. He felt he could untangle the languages of the world through this work, and was determined to have it finished before his death.
During his lifetime, he was hounded by suspicion, which was rightly given. He was responsible for the murder of his wife, and most likely his baby daughter. He was suspected of killing a sister in law and her son.
Edward Rulloff is one of the more interesting serial killers that I have read about, and the many facets of his mind that were left unlocked due to the scientific methods of the day. While he deserved punishment for his crimes, there are many areas that could have given some interesting insights into the mind of someone who could be considered genius, yet entirely insane.
Fascinating read, and highly enjoyable.
What a fantastic read! I enjoyed the adventure of looking for the Endurance.
Mensun Bound takes the reader on a fabulous journey, looking for the wreck of the Endurance, and tracking Shackleton's adventure at the same time. There are ups and downs, as the first expedition hits several snags, leaving the crew dejected and upset over the lack of finding anything concrete. But the next try might yield better results, giving the team what they are looking for.
This book crosses between Shackleton and Bound, giving glimpses of the first journey, which was fraught with danger and unexpected hardships.
Loved this one immensely!
Written as a string of short stories that span eighty years, we get the story of Remmy, from his grandson - the author.
These stories are entertaining, and regale the reader with fun pranks, some not so fun areas, and go through the time that Remmy spends in prison for some sabotage, just so they can get the company to admit to their wrongdoings - all of which will come out during the court case.
This book will keep you engaged throughout, and might cause you to giggle a few times out loud as you are reading.
Peter Freuchen lived a life that most of us can envy. He was all over the place, and became a larger than life figure.
During his time as an artic explorer, he worked closely with the indigenous peoples, gaining their trust, and visiting places that most had only read about. He was a determined person, defying odds to continue his adventures.
He worked in Hollywood for a time, lectured, and traveled the world.
I absolutely loved this book! I have so much I want to say, but can't figure out how to put it all into words. This was hard to put down, as it was a treasure trip for me, exploring the artic through the pages of a book.
Oh my goodness! I absolutely loved the story of Edward Oscar Heinrich. Being able to read through the different changes, and the struggles that he undertook to find justice was really fascinating. For many, we watch true crime shows and never wonder where it started.
Perfect for true crime lovers, this book will keep you interested the entire way through - as well as the cases that are discussed throughout.
Dive into some of the most talked about murder houses, and a few that are not as well known. Horrific crimes, and brutal murder can make it hard to sell a house, but many are now in the hands of private owners. These homes, with their dark history, were once the scenes of massive investigations, and surrounded by questions on what might have happened within its walls.
Great read! Perfect for true crime lovers!
This was an interesting book, but wow. Just wow. I had to take some breaks while reading through this, and I can usually read through a serial killer spree with not a thought. There was a lot of abuse in this book, and the rough and tumble growing up that the author describes is pretty vivid.
Decent overall, and the author is a good storyteller, but a few warnings should be given for this one!
Interesting, yet rambling story. Suzanne used to run a newspaper on the island of Koh Tao, until she was pushed out due to her involvement in a case - one involving murder and visitors to the island.
There were a lot of things that I just could not connect with through this story. It was hard to follow at times, and there were areas where it seemed so jumpy, that it was almost as though the author was pacing the floor and spewing words into a recorder, that was then put on paper.
Enjoyed the aspects of the case overall.
What a read! I enjoyed this one and the tying of a case between Count Dracula and Sherlock Holmes.
With Dr. Watson and his wife, Mary, becoming vampires, there is a twist to this book, and I am interested to see if anything continues in future reads. But as this book continues, Mary goes into a darker mode, whereas Dr. Watson can continue much as before, with a few modifications to his daily diet.
There are some twists in this book that I do not feel I can share without giving away a spoiler, but this is worth a read! If you are a fan of Bram Stoker's Dracula, you will enjoy this deliciously chilling read!
