This was a really interesting looking to Rudolf Diesel and life. I was expecting more of a “jump into the missing part,” but really, it was not badly put together. You get to know Rudolf, his upbringing, the good, the bad, and the really not so good parts.
I enjoyed the science, the technology, and the aspects of his life which led to his disappearance, and the long-standing mystery about his fate. Highly recommend this one!
This was a great read! Loaded with fantastic information, photos, and other tidbits, get a feeling for the pharaoh Ramesses II, his background, and the many different projects that he undertook.
I enjoyed the comparison of some of the art from various tombs that were presented in this book as well.
If you enjoy Egyptian history, you will like this book!
Explore the floor of the ocean with these amazing stories! There are so many wrecks out there, and not all of them have been discovered yet. For those that have been found, there are some wonderful things that can be found.
Martin W. Sandler takes us on a journey through several shipwrecks, and the treasures that were found along the ocean floor.
Absolutely enjoyed this book! I love reading about different wrecks, and this book not only covers what was found, but some of the history surrounding the wreck itself.
Dive into the world of the Vikings as never before. Many historians are aware that women would also be warriors but finding an actual gravesight, and understanding many of the complexities around it are rare.
This book was fantastic! I enjoyed reading through it, and learning a bit more about the culture, and the different aspects in determing the sex of bones, and burial practices of a bygone time.
What a very interesting take on Sherlock Holmes. Instead of the well put-together detective most of us know, this story takes a bit of the more human approach to the man - after he has been thought dead for the past three years.
I did enjoy this story, but it was rather hard to get used to a different feel for Sherlock at first. Dive into the super mysterious, and solve a new case with Holmes and Watson! This truly will not disappoint.
After a horrific accident at the airport, the town is stuck between trying to move on, and figuring out what happened. While there are many theories about what actually brought down the plane, killing all 218 people on board, nothing was ever officially found.
One security guard continues to look, and begins to see ghosts at the airport. But she is not the only one - others are seeing them too - and its starting to look like another disaster might be about to happen.
Ohhh - this was such a great book! I really enjoyed it.
The Thing seems to be lonely, so after watching him, a young lady begins to make friends with him. As they grow their friendship, she begins to learn more about him, and she and her mom help to decorate his home.
After a fun party, she has to learn that nothing lasts forever and the Thing is about to leave.
Soon someone new moves into the home and they seem happy - which makes her happy.
Great little read, and a good book on introducing new friendships.
Elizabeth is surprised when she finds a young boy hanging out in the cemetery. She soon realizes that he is not a regular boy, but a ghost. As they slowly begin to form a friendship, she starts to wonder about who he is, and why he is stuck in the cemetery. He is able to come into her house, and they have fun playing some pranks on her dad.
But things take a turn, when a stranger shows up, asking if anything has been found in the cemetery. He is vague about what he is looking for, but he seems very interested in Elizabeth.
This was a good read, and contained a few twists that I did not see coming!
When the Spanish arrived in the new world, they were first seen as gods, and then slowly, the wonder turned to terror. The Spanish had one thing on their mind - gold. They would do anything to get it, and slowly they began working through the country, conducting warfare.
The history that is presented in this book is so well done - and I actually listened to this book twice, as there were so many things that I wanted to hear again, or refresh. I am still almost lost writing this review, as I want to say so many things, but the words are just not wanting to come.
Loved this one! Absolutely one of my favorites for the year.
Overall, this was a really good read. There were some darker elements to the book, but that just made it all the more enjoyable. This is one that I think my oldest son would enjoy. The background and the story for Nancy is really neat, and some of her abilities that are presented through the book just make it that much more interesting. I think this will be a winner for many young adult readers - and of course, the adults who enjoy reading fun books too!
Get ready for a scare and some fun - and discover your younger side again!
