i really loved the writing of this book and i would definitely pick something else up from this author. i actually found the first half super creepy but the explanation behind all of the creepy stuff and the direction in the second half definitely lost me.

man what the fuck was that lil twist there

i really loved the beginning and where we were going but then it went in a direction i wasn't interested in. also lowkey doesn't make sense.

didn't do anything for me. i don't know if this “fun” kind of horror just isn't my thing, but i also didn't find this fun so

this such a well crafted story. it's certainly not horror, but i was so obsessed with the writing in this. it wasn't something life changing but i think it was just a well told, well executed story.

i was super intrigued and hooked by the first half of this book, but overall i wasn't rooting for any characters, the writing was a bit too basic and we moved through the story too fast for me to care about anything going on. there was one pretty good twist but tbh just watch rosemarys baby.

i didn't care about a single character or plot point at any point.

this was a really solid story that accomplished what it set out to do. for my personal taste, it was just a bit too short and expected. i liked what it was saying but i'm not sure it was actually doing anything.

the real horror is this economy

if dead inside by chandler morrison met the cellar by natasha preston, which is to say poorly written, dumbass & uninteresting characters and overdone gore with no skill or purpose besides shock value. also i'm bitter one of the only books i read set in my state is trash.

this book was fine, just definitely not for me. i preferred one timeline over the other, the storytelling style didn't totally work for me, and the writing style was not bad by any means, just a bit too on the nose for my taste. i would say for fans of addie larue and evelyn hugo.

...man, i'll just rewatch jennifer's body
