Why this book?
As I'm sure it is for a lot of people, this was a formative book for me as a kid. Loveable characters, in a sad, no-win scenario. Shocking events seen through the naive eyes of an innocent child. A morality tale, about trying to understand people who come from a different walk of life - that is still relevant today.
