Such a great novel, very captivating!

I loved everything about this book. I found it's setting, the characters, the plot to be very bewitching, drawing me in, making me feel as though I was a part of their world. The language was used skillfully to build vibrant pictures throughout the story, without ever being kitschy or cheap.

I would recommend this to: women who love women, weird girl lit-enjoyers, people who enjoy reading about beautiful things turning ugly.

I had bought Victorian Psycho with the expectations of getting in to some "femgore" literature.

Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed by both the characters and the plot. There was so much opportunity for an interesting character backstory here, but the only personality trait of Winifred Notty was "Psychopath". Every single character was superficial and annoying. I think having a psychopath as the narrator just doesn't make for much emotional turmoil and sadly, the plot failed to compensate for this problem.

Although I liked the setting in the Victorian Era and the funny bits, I was left feeling underwhelmed. On a scale from "ice cold" to "extremely hot" (extremely hot being the best book I've ever read), I would describe this book as "room temperature": not uninteresting, but still "meh".
