It’s been a few years since I’ve reread the lotr series, so this reread is long overdue! Every time I read this trilogy I appreciate it more and more.

Contains spoilers

2 books down in my reread of the entire shadowhunters chronicles!

I’ve always viewed this book as the weakest in the series and upon reread I’m fairly certain I feel the same way. Some of my favourite characters start to develop well in this book (Alec and Simon) but others are insufferable (Jace and clary). I’m excited for the siblings plotline to finally be over and looking forward to my reread of COG, which has always been my favourite in the tmi series.

I loved returning to Fitz, Nighteyes, and the Fool, even though this book was heartbreaking

After enjoying the farseer trilogy I was hesitant going into this next series without following Fitz. I shouldn’t have been worried at all!

I thoroughly enjoyed following a larger cast of characters and though some are rather unlikeable I felt that didn’t take from my enjoyment of the book at all. The liveships are fascinating and distinct characters themselves.

Hobb’s writing and character work are incredible and I’m looking forward to continuing the series.

Starting a complete reread of the shadowhunters chronicles.

I’ve always skipped over the mortal instruments when rereading books from this world and it’s primarily been due to a specific plot in this book and the next one. Still it was fun to return to the beginning of this series after 10+ years and be reminded of where the characters started.
