Absolutely one of the best books I've read this year so far.

Excellent, even if it feels a bit disjointed at times. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed this, the first half was just REALLY slow and somewhat lackluster.

My hopes for this were very low for the first 350 pages, but I can forgive that (mostly) for the second half of this book.

This was so hard for me to get into for the first 100ish pages, but then it was utterly excellent.

Really, really great concept. This was definitely one of my most anticipated releases for 2024.

Poor execution.

So good. I wish it had stuck to the horror that is the natural world (listen, I love the outdoors but it is a scary place) a little bit more.

Literally so good. I ate this up.

Utterly delightful. I rarely rate short story collections because I tend to like some and not others. These, though, were all excellent.

As an aside, I saw this book on a cozy fantasy display at B&N and I simply have to disagree.

There was a bit too much of unnecessary fluff in this for my personal preferences with non-fiction, but this book was so incredibly useful I'm willing to overlook it. In terms of utility, one of the best books I've read in recent years.

This was, somehow, even better than the first.

Nothing wrong with this, I just had an ebook hold come up that I need to get to before this ebook.

I will say I did like the writing style.

But I've started reading more fem lit in the past few months and, wow, this really missed the mark for me, especially when I compare it to other books I've read with similar themes. Beyond frustrated with that “twist”.

Really fun, I just felt like something was missing from it, but I'm not sure what.

I ended up enjoying this way more than I thought I would, which was a pleasant surprise. I do wish I had read this about 6 years ago, though, because I just know that teenage me would have eaten this up for breakfast, lunch AND dinner.

TBD on if I'll actually end up picking up the second one.

Every book in this series is just so good, ugh.

The premise of this is so cute but there's not really a plot? I don't know, it was put together kind of strangely.

Really fascinating and beautiful read. I just wish we'd gotten some clarification on several things relevant to the plot and world building.
